During Spirit Week, before Spring Break, our school had Hawaiian Day. Mrs. Seater showed us how to make leis out of construction paper and straws. Some of us decided to try it. We learned some Hawaiian words, too.

aloha is hello, goodbye, and I love you

mahalo is thank you, mahalo nui loa is thank you very much

lanai is porch

wikiwiki is hurry up or fast

opu is stomach

puka is hole

keiki is child

wahine is woman

kane is man

And our favorite: pupu is snacks; We thought it was very funny to ask people if they wanted to eat pupus.

Here we are, making some leis.

Mahalo Nui Loa for looking at our site! Aloha!
