First grade is quite a change from kindergarten; I will do my best to make the transition as fun and smooth as possible.

The kids and I will begin the year with getting to know each other and establishing classroom routines. We will also review letters and their sounds as well as numbers to 30. Parents, if your child has not yet mastered these, please be sure to review them at home so your child will feel comfortable as we progress. We will also review the sight words that your child may have learned in kindergarten. Starfall is a wonderful site for helping your child learn to read with fun stories and games.

There will be so many fun and challenging times in our near future. As we go through this exciting adventure, remember that we are all in this together. Communication is importnat to me , so please feel free to stop by, call or e-mail me!

Parent volunteers are an important part of our afternoons. I will be sending home a volunteer form after the first month of school.
